Mermaid Cupcake Recipe
- 1 box white or vanilla cake mix, PLUS ingredients called for on box
- Food dyes of choice (we used purple and teal)
- Sprinkles/Candy pearls
- 1 cup white candy melts
- 1 cup green candy melts
- 1 cup teal candy melts
- Mermaid silicone mold
- 4 cups Powdered Sugar
- 1 cup Butter (Softened Salted Sweet Cream)
- 2-3 teaspoons vanilla
- 1-2 tablespoons milk
Bake the cupcakes according to instructions on the box. Once cool, frost with buttercream frosting. I put half of one frosting color on one side of the bag and another on the other, this way it will create a fun swirl color when you pipe the frosting on the cupcake. Decorate with sprinkles, pearls, the candy shells and the mermaid tails!
Buttercream Frosting Directions:
- Add softened butter and vanilla to the mixing bowl and mix until completely combined.
- Add powdered sugar and beat on low until it is incorporated. Then move mixer up to medium-high speed. When completely mixed the frosting may appear dry.
- Add milk a little bit at a time until frosting is the proper consistency.
- Separate frosting into bowls and add food coloring.
