Chocolate Chip Cake Bars
Ingredients
- 1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix (I normally use yellow, but only had white in the house today and it worked fine too)
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 cups milk chocolate chips, divided
- 1 tablespoon shortening
Directions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the first six ingredients.
- Mix on medium speed for 2 minutes. Stir in 1-1/2 cups of chocolate chips.
- Spread in a greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking pan.
- Bake at 375 degrees F for 20-25 minutes or until lightly browned and a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
- Melt shortening with the remaining chocolate chips (microwave on medium, stirring periodically)
- Drizzle melted chocolate over the top (once cooled). Cut into bars.
