Summer is officially here and we can't think of a better way to enjoy the warm weather than to host a movie night in!  Gather the kids, their friends, the nneighbors, etc.  and enjoy a nice night at home!
Of course every party needs food!  Why not order take out from your local Chinese restaurant or  make your own rice dish or "Po Dumplings" at home.

We opted for steamed potstickers at home!

Ingredients
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1/2 medium head cabbage, finely chopped
  • 1 green onion, finely chopped
  • 2 slices fresh ginger root, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 (14 ounce) package wonton wrappers
  • 5 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3/4 cup water
Directions
  1. Crumble pork into a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium high heat until evenly brown. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together the pork, cabbage, green onion, ginger, salt, sugar and sesame oil. Chill in the refrigerator 6 to 8 hours, or overnight.
  3. Place a tablespoon of the pork mixture into each of the wonton wrappers. Fold the wrappers, and seal the edges with a moistened fork.
  4. Find a pot that your steamer will fit in snugly, or where it can hover over the pot. Fill the pot with about 2 inches of water
  5. On medium heat, without the steamer on top or any sort of cover, bring the water or liquid to a simmer. Do not let it come to a boil.
  6. Once the water has reached the simmering point, place the steamer over or in the pot. Make sure the lid is on.
  7. Continue cooking until the food has cooked through; this will vary depending on what you are cooking.

You will need a sweet treat too, so why not try your hand at making some Kung Fu Panda inspired cupcakes.

Another fun treat is these little panda cookies!  You can score them at Target for $1 each or a your local Five Below for about $1.29 each!  These are perfect for munching or to send home with your guest as part of a goodie bag.

Printables, crafts and games are must!  Here are ideas to get you inspired!  Just click the link to get all the info on how to  create these:

One of the pandas in the movie is Bao.  He is very energetic, playful, mischievous, and hyperactive. He is also very good at continuously keeping toys in midair by bouncing them off his feet, similarly to kicking a soccer ball. So part of our party night was having kids get out in the yard and kick the soccer ball around and see if they all could keep the ball in the air without it hitting the ground.  Then they followed with an impromptu soccer game in the field!
