I fell in love with the original film when it came out a couple years ago and was excited when they made a second film and brought back the entire cast from the first film and a few new characters!
I am in my 30s and loved it, you would think by looking at the cast of characters, one would assume it is a film for the older generation. No matter you age, you will connect with the characters and get intertwined in their story. It is not necessary to see the first film, but I highly recommend it. It will give you more back story on the characters and how they got to India and how the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel came about!
Judi Dench was absolutely amazing in this film and as she ages she gets even more beautiful. The real scene stealer in this film is Muriel Donnelly (played byMaggie Smith). In the first firm she was a crusty old woman that rarely anyone got along with until the end of the first film. This film takes off with her and Sonny Kapoor (Dev Patel) who have a dream of expansion, and they've found just the place. The movie goes through the obstacles of expanding the hotel, love interests, planning a wedding and figuring out where you fit in. After watching the movie you may want to examine your own life and decide if you like the path you are on or you may want to attempt a new path to fulfillment.
