America's Favorite Traditional Amusement Park since 1898, Kennywood is now open and perfect time to visit now that most schools are out ! Kennywood continues to delight each and every guest with 31 major rides, including three wooden coasters, two steel coasters including Phantom's Revenge and Skyrocket, water rides, spinning rides, hi-speed rides for thrill seekers, Kid-sized rides for tiny daredevils, and relaxing rides for those who simply want to enjoy the splendor of a truly inviting venue.

Combining the best of the old with the best of the new, guests will find the original, 110-year- old carousel pavilion, as well as state-of-the-art attractions like Phantom'sRevenge, Skyrocket, and Ghostwood Estate. The Black Widow ride features counterclockwise rotation and pendulum motions that create a variety of different sensations, depending on a rider's specific position.

A couple weeks ago we took a trip to Kennywood park in PA. It was close to a 2 hour drive for us, so not that bad! We arrived at opening and got to experience it all! It was a bit overcast that day and a Sunday, so it was not busy at all.  We had minimal wait times for rides, maxing out at 15 minutes!   The first ride of the day for my husband and daughter was the Phantom Revenge Coaster and loved it! While my son went on a couple of the classic wood coasters.

Majority of the rides require you to be at least 46 inches and there are a few that you must be taller than that to ride.  My son is just over 46 inches, so this time around he was able to ride just about all the rides he wanted!  Since he was tall enough to ride without an adult, he even just rode rides with his sister.  This gave us old folks (LOL) a time to rest.   The kids loved riding the  log ride alone and getting soaked!

Food wasn't bad. We grabbed lunch at the Parkside Cafe!  We spit a wrap, salad and mac n' cheese.  It was way too much for the three of us, as the kids were just wanting to get back out and ride.   My son begged and begged for a corn dog, so of course we obliged and he was in heaven later in the day.  Prices are comparable to eating out! There was food places and restrooms all over the place, so they were easy to find!  I would order minimal at first and then if it gets devoured get more food.  Kids have a tendency not to eat much in the heat, let alone when excitement awaits!

It was a truly nice park for families. Younger children  can enjoy the kiddie area and get the courage to ride the bigger rides. Nestled close to the kiddie area is also a stage, so check the times for the shows!  it was a pirate adventure show with swashbuckling pirates fighting each other!

If you have small kids, the Kiddyland part of the park will make you very happy. If you are a roller coaster enthusiast, there are tons of options for you. There is something for everyone! It was a fun filled day for us Ohio peeps and nice to have an option not to far away to visit
