This is the 100th anniversary of Mother’s Day! Wow, 100 years! The American incarnation of Mother’s Day was created by Anna Jarvis in 1908. In 1910, West Virginia became the first state to recognize the new holiday, and the nation followed in 1914 when President Wilson declared the second Sunday in May to be Mother's Day.
So how are you going to celebrate with the special women in your life? Here are just some ideas of items that you can pick up this year at Hallmark to show those special ladies how much they mean to you!
Pics ‘N’ Props: Memories are ready and waiting to be homemade with Pics ‘n’ Props — a fun and easy way to make a DIY Mother’s Day gift! New for 2014 is a “We Love You Because” kit that includes a chalkboard and four-photo frame, allowing multiple family members to call out their favorite things about mom or grandma. I love this frame. Not only can you use the chalkboard for this frame, but you can save it and as the kids get older take new photos with the chalkboard to update it every year for Mom/Grandma!
Customly Yours home decor lets you add your own words, phrases, special dates or names to frames that you’ll love to display for years to come. The professional-quality, laser-cut inserts are perfect for personalizing for holidays, life’s milestones or for simply stating what you or your family stands for. Each piece is totally individualized and unique— just like you or the person you’re creating it for.
Don't forget the card either! This year you can still pick up the Magic Prints line! I totally adored this line last year! It is a great tradition to start and document your child' hand print! My kids also love to pick out their own cards to give at holidays, I love that Hallmark makes cards that are fun for kids and easy for them to pick out with the cute fun characters like the little bear above.
- Sarah Jessica Parker Collection: This collection includes 12 Mother’s Day cards created by a stylish mom herself — Sarah Jessica Parker. Parker worked with the Hallmark creative team to pair vintage artwork from the Hallmark archives with modern touches and embellishments. The designs feature simple, authentic and heartfelt messages, perfect for your mom and friends.
- Hallmark Signature Collection: Celebrate mom or grandma with a card as unique as she is. With beautiful papers, rich textures and unique embellishments, each card in the Hallmark Signature Collection is handcrafted to be extra special, just like mom.
