Rad Air Complete Car Care and Tire Centers Will Over-Power Cleveland
The 48th Annual Summit Racing Equipment I-X Piston Powered Auto-Rama Presented by Rad Air Complete Car Care and Tire Centers has officially filled all participant space securing more than one million square feet of custom cars, motorcycles, boats, aircraft, antique tractors, monster trucks, semis, tractor trailers, military vehicles, and historical construction equipment. Interactive displays, simulators, swap meet and toy modeler area, Thunder Row featuring 40 Crusin’ Times All-Star cars, and more is on display March 14-16, 2014 at the I-X Center! Showcasing more than 1,000 vehicles, participants will roll in from as far as Florida and Colorado to show off their finest piston powered vehicles. This year’s show will feature many favorites from 2013 along with a host of new features!
“To be in the midst of winter in Cleveland, and sell out all participant and vendor spaces this far in advance of the show is truly amazing,” said Steve Legerski, Show Manager. “It just goes to show you how dedicated these enthusiasts are in being part of this show and supporting our goal of taking this event to the highest level possible for all show participants and the thousands of enthusiasts who come to see, hear and enjoy all it has to offer.”
Military Features
The Ohio Motorpool, the Buckeye Military Vehicle Collectors and the Marlboro Volunteers will have a wide variety of military vehicles on display including a 34-ton M4A3E8 Sherman tank! The Medina VFW 5137 will be on hand throughout the weekend to honor our military, present Color Guard ceremonies and display various military programs. Learn about the latest technology in prosthetics, VA eligibility/enrollment, OIF/OEP Program, Voluntary Services, and the VBA. Entertainment by Vets with Guitars will raise funds for the Greater Cleveland Fisher House, which provides support to the families of wounded veterans. Other community Partners participating this year include the Lake County Juvenile Diabetes Walk Family, Championship Kart Racing Association, Discover Aviation Center, United States Air Museum, and the Ghost Rider Foundation.
The new 2014 collectors T-Shirts, Forged in Cleveland, Made in the USA, combine the winners from the 2013 show including the Summit Gold Cup and the Duck Award. The t-shirts, the All-American Tee, are 100% made in the USA. From the cotton to the fabric manufacturing to the sewing of the finished tee, the All-American Tees help create and sustain jobs right here in America. The event T-shirt will be on sale at the show for $18, inside the West entrance, while supplies last.
Family Fun and Competitions
More family and kid elements have been added to the show this year! The Buckeye State Sanctioned Pedal Tractor Pullers will hold a competition for kids ages 4-11! Kids will be able to compete by pulling a weighted sled on a tractor pedal puller. This will complement the FirstEnergy All American Soap Box Derby, which gives kids the opportunity to experience the thrill of the indoor Soap Box Derby track at the show!
For career driven students, The Genuine Hotrod Hardware Pedal Car Challenge, Presented by Summit Racing Equipment, is an opportunity for a team of student5, from Genuine Hotrod Hardware, Inc., for their students to customize at the show. The object is s to apply their technical skills in a hands-on project that involves planning, design, creativity, productivity, and resourcefulness. Qualifying schools will be given one Hot Rod Pedal Car, P/N EET-970 to create an award winning pedal car, fully finished and painted, for display, judging and auction. Proceeds from the auction will benefit participating schools.
For adults looking for their chance to compete at the event, stop by the Rad Air Complete Car Care and Tire Centers booth to test your skills with the Spark Plug Challenge on Saturday and Sunday! This competition is open to the public and participants will have the opportunity to compete at changing spark plugs against celebrity challengers at various times each day. Winners of each contest will receive a $50 Rad Air gift certificate.
More than 600 awards will be given out throughout the weekend in a variety of categories. The Hot Rod Asylum awards ceremony will be held in the South Hall Saturday at 6:15pm The ISCA/Summit Racing Equipment Show Car Series awards ceremony will be held at the Main Stage Saturday from 7-9:00pm and the I-X Piston Powered Auto-Rama Driven Series awards ceremony will be held at the Main Stage Sunday from 3-6:00pm.
Entertainment and Special Appearances
The Filling Station Main Stage area, Presented by Pepsi, is the place to be to keep the party going! Stay up to date with the latest show activities and enjoy live entertainment, including Dom and Russ, the lead singers of a Cleveland 10 piece Vegas Style Show Band "CHANCE". Stay fueled and fed with Schwebel’s featured menu items along with Happy Hour specials! The Ohio Lottery will also feature a Designated Driver booth in the Filling Station to encourage guests to stay safe by offering a free soda coupon and complimentary gift.
Enjoy new entertainment by Rockabilly Bands throughout the weekend in the South Hall. Rockabilly is one of the earliest styles of rock and roll music dating back to the early 1950s blending country & western and rhythm & blues!!! Bands will include Scoliosis Jones, The Madison Crawl, 45 Spider, The Jade Idol with legendary fabricator Bob Bleed, Lords of the Highway, and Tag Team Panel Jam to the music of the X-ChromaTones.
Cleveland sports will make its debut with the “Cleveland Browns “Im-pound” Lot. Former Cleveland Browns linebacker and Akron native Frank Stams will appear alongside the Cleveland Browns Backers’ busses and cars from the Muny lot. On Saturday, the Cleveland Indians Hot Dog and Slider Mascots will be at the show offering photo opportunities and autographs for the little ones.
Co-host of the nationally televised show, Performance TV [Velocity Channel] and NHRA/IHRA driver Kathy Fisher will be on-hand in the Aesthetic Finishers display. Fisher will have her K&N Filters/Borla Exhaust/Armor Coat dragster and, her husband and teammate, Kevin Fisher’s Armor Coat/Ohio Crankshaft Top Dragster on display throughout the event, as well as available during show hours for autographs.
South Hall Hot Rod Asylum
The ALL-NEW South Hall Hot Rod Asylum will feature vehicles including cars, trucks and motorcycles that are Kustoms, Nostalgic Race Cars and/or have a Nostalgic appearance. A separate Awards Ceremony will be held on Saturday featuring nine custom made trophies created by Calculated Custom. Along with awarding Best in Show, the winner will receive a trophy, their own commemorative "Straight Jacket", and their name added to the South Hall Asylum's "Straight Jacket". The Straight Jacket will be held on display at the I-X Center and other various locations.
