ABOUT THE ARTIST – JONATHAN WILCOX
Jonathan Wilcox grew up in Royal Oak, MI and has been drawing for as long as he can remember. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Columbia College Chicago where he studied illustration. Since then, Jonathan's been freelancing for a number of great clients around the country. He enjoys illustration and cartooning, design for the web and for print, creating graphics for TV and movies, and dabbling in painting, photography and traditional printing techniques.
In addition to creating a limited edition poster for The Kings of Summer, Jonathan had the honor of working on the film in collaboration with director Jordan Vogt-Roberts and other crew members. Jonathan was able to infuse his drawings and designs into many aspects of the movie including pre-production concepts and storyboards, set dressing for Joe Toy's bedroom, assistance in prop creation like the missing poster for Patrick, the hand-drawn creed and map, titles for the opening and closing credits, and other elements.
Jonathan has been creating a comic strip for the last year called Journal of a Shut-In which is loosely based on his day-to-day life living and working in relative isolation. He currently resides in the Detroit area with his wife and their cat. More of Jonathan's work can be found at jtwilcox.com where he has a portfolio and sketch blog.
