Now the the temps are dropping and soon snow will be sticking to the ground, you need to make sure you and your vehicle are ready for the winter. Make sure you winterize your vehicle, get a tune-up and be sure to check the battery levels in your vehicle.
Make sure your trunk is also prepared! Items to consider including in your trunk:
- At least two blankets or a sleeping bag
- Flashlight or battery-powered lantern and extra batteries
- Booster (jumper) cables
- Emergency flares
- Extra clothing, particularly boots, hats and mittens
- A shovel and snow scraper. I carry a child's small snow shovel.
- Bottled water and snacks
- First-aid kit and necessary medications
- Sand or non-clumping cat litter for tire traction, if your vehicle gets stuck in snow or ice
- A cell phone car charger
