I have animated movie in a while, but the kids have been tuning into the new series on TV and were so excited to see this presentation. The story line was adapted a little from the original film with some slight changes... but it totally works! I honestly can say there are no bad seats in the house when watching this performance, action is happening everywhere! The pyrotechnics and lighting were amazing, at times we could even feel the heat from the fires!
One amazing part was the flying of the dragons. Unfortunately at one point Hiccup and Toothless were flying in the air and they experienced technical difficulties and we all had to wait an hour before the show to start up again. I am not sure if Toothless was supposed to fly again in the show, but when he did it was amazing!
The dragons are truly amazing from the way they walked to the way they flied. I was sitting on the edge of my seat taking it all in! The facial features were so life like and you forget they are not real. I so wanted to touch one!
After the show, the kids (ages 5 and 7) and I were were discussing our favorite parts. Of course a 5 year old boy would say the dragon who farted a lot was his favorite part. I thought the drawings Hiccup did on the ground and them portraying on the wall were pretty amazing. I also thought the ships all glowing in the night were beautiful, you paid no attention to the people carrying them, just the boats gliding. Hubby loved Hiccup running on the wall, he had a harness on that allowed him to run on the wall while the wall images were constantly changing and new paths were forming.
Daughter who just turned 7 LOVE the battle scene at the end with the large dragon. I love how they not only had the large robot dragon head and tail, but they incorporated the rest of the body onto the screen and made it appear to be flying. It worked wonderfully and was a great finish to the show.
The entire show from start to finish was amazing. The cast and crew who put on the show are talented and did a wonderful job. Even though there was a "hiccup" in technical difficulties that delayed the show, it was spectacular. Would I recommend it? Yes! Would I see it again? YES!!!
