Well to get him prepared, Hallmark sent us Nugget the Dog Interactive Story Buddy and book Nugget’s First Day of School. This was perfect for a particularly nervous little guy! Nugget, a cuddly pup, speaks up to reply aloud to key phrases in his book. There are key phrases throughout the book that are in red and when you read them, Nugget will say something or make a noise.T he story chronicles Nugget’s first day of dog school, from the nerves beforehand to all the new puppy pals he makes during the day, and his excitement to return.
The story is really cute and is perfect for little ones who are about to go to school for the first time. What I also love is that there are additional books Nugget's Dog Park Adventure and Nugget's Field Day that work with the same stuffed Nugget. So you can just keep adding to the Nugget collection and watching your child's eyes light up when he responds to the story!
What words and phrases do your kids need to hear from you at this important milestone and all through the school year? I encourage my kids to do their best and to never stop trying. Today it was hard on big sister as she wanted to show little bro all ropes, like getting on the bus. I had to assure her we would be fine, just like she was a year ago. They hear we love them everyday and have a great day as I wave good by as the bus is pulling up. Sometimes I think back to school is harder on mom than the kids!

We let my grandson know just how proud we are of him and talk to him about how important school is for his future. We praise him often for doing great in school. He is just in kindergarten but he gets to go pick a prize at school on days he does great. He usually comes home with something daily
