#CloroxLounge and when being "cheap" with my daughter backfired!

The Clorox Family of Toilet Products recently launched a fun new Web site celebrating one of the most-used and underrated rooms in our homes - the bathroom! The Clorox Lounge is turning the bathroom into the laughroom with a community hub designed to be a mom’s go-to place for comedy, which launched on January 26, 2012. Hosted by comedian, actress and mom Sherri Shepherd, the site found at TheCloroxLounge.com features hilarious anecdotes, fun contests, exciting give-a-ways, coupons and just the right amount of comic relief. An inspiration for an entire genre of comedy, the potty is often named as the number one place for moms to find a moment of quiet and a break from a busy day! Whether it’s potty training, cleaning wars, or simply rites of passage that come with kids growing-up, the bathroom is such a huge part of our lives.

In honor of The Clorox Lounge launch and the Last Comic Sitting Competition,  Social Moms recently teamed up with Clorox to have a few of us bloggers share a time we decided to be frugal or cheap with our kids and it backfired!
I can laugh now, but I mortified after this happened and how my daughter would react.   For my daughter's 100th day of Kindergarten we picked up a cheap t-shirt, listened to the sales clerk and picked up the cheap "fabric" glue and some buttons.  I stood at the craft store looking at glue for the longest time trying to figure out the difference and man the prices were expensive.  The clerk assured me the glue she recommended would do the trick....  My daughter went to town making a shirt with 100 strategically placed buttons on the shirt.  She worked and worked on it and she was so proud of it and could not wait to wear it to school on the 100th day.  I must admit, I was quiet impressed to, she was focused and it came out absolutely adorable!  She proudly wore it to school on the 100th day and was upset when she got some of her yogurt on her shirt at lunch.  I assured her, that mommy would wash it and it would be as good as new.

I turned her shirt inside out, placed it in a pillow case to be on the safe side and turned on a gentle cycle.  I had planned to let the shirt air dry when I went to remove if from the washer.  I opened our front loader and to my horror buttons were everywhere.  The so called "fabric" glue the craft store recommended was the cheapest and now we know why.  All that hard work was gone, not a single button stuck to the shirt.  Heck even the glue washed clear out of the shirt and it looked like new.  I was afraid my little girl would be so upset, but she was fine with it!  More arts and craft projects for another time she said!

Yes being frugal is great most the time, but sometimes you gotta trust your gut and cheap is not always the best!
