Girl Scouts of USA’s 100th anniversary

In celebration of the Girl Scouts of USA’s 100th anniversary, the organization has partnered with King Features Syndicate to nationally distribute a print and online feature called “Girl Scout Greats.” Girl Scouts of the USA has a spectacular record at producing accomplished leaders. Some interesting stats include:

·         69% of female U.S. Senators were Girl Scouts
·         67% of female members of the House of Representatives were Girl Scouts
·         80% of female business owners were all once Girl Scouts.

Each day for the next year, newspapers and websites will be running a special profile that spotlights past Girl Scouts that have become accomplished women including the women mentioned above. Each profile includes a photo and brief statement explaining the impact that the Girl Scouts experience had on her personal and professional development.

Below is an example of one of the profiles that will be featured:

Elizabeth Dole
Girl Scout alumna
Groundbreaker for American Women
Girl Scouts, Hornets’ Nest Council

“I served as a U.S. Senator, U.S. Secretary of Transportation, U.S. Secretary of Labor and President of the American Red Cross. I know what it takes to make tough decisions in a timely manner. Girl Scouts prepared me for high-stakes positions by giving girls the opportunity to develop leadership skills in order to achieve their full potential and succeed in life.”

Help us develop the next generation of leaders.
