Great vacation spot: Fort Rapids Indoor Water Park Resort in Columbus, Ohio!

This past weekend, we got to experience  Fort Rapids Indoor Water Park Resort in Columbus, Ohio!  It is central Ohio's largest indoor water park resort. Fort Rapids is the perfect family fun travel destination where 60,000 square feet of wet and wild fun is waiting for the whole family. Come relax and unwind in one of our guest rooms or family style villa suites, then zip down 12 unique water rides, float in the lazy river, get drenched by the 1,000 gallon tipping bucket and win big at the 5,000 square foot Gold Rush Arcade. And when you're good and hungry, stop by the Branding Iron Grille or Copper Star Saloon for a bite.

The water park consists of the following areas (click on images to make larger):

Kiddie Korral
Children's activity area features 2 small slides exiting directly into the pool with a zero depth entry and small interactive play structures. Perfect for the tiniest of greenhorns! Both my children loved this area.   The was a water toy feature were you open doors to let water go thru a trough and my son was enthralled with it.  He played with it for the longest time and multiple times!

 Rascal Round Up
40-foot tall interactive water play structure set in the middle of Fort Rapids Waterpark. Children can shoot at their friends with a water cannon or slide down one of 4 slides. Watch out! The tipping bucket will fill and dump over 1,000 gallons of water throughout the hour (you can see the bucket dumping above).    My son is so 40inches and made the mark to ride the slides here.   He was excited and eager to try a  water slide.  My daughter on the other hand was unsure.  After one slip sliding adventure down the "purple" slide they were excited to try them all.   Once down, they were off and running up the steps again.   I was getting tired, but they kept going!

Cowboy Creek- 40" Height Requirement
The choice is yours! Choose your route and go under the tumble buckets or float over the mini rapids. Hold on tight! As you round the last corner the waves will push you gently to the exit.  Unfortunately one area of this was closed while were were here, but we still enjoyed riding the waves!

Activity Pool
Always buzzing with fun, this 4 ft. deep pool features 5 basketball hoops, snake and raft floats and the Perilous Promenade.  We did not use this area and I failed to take a pic!   Older/taller children were having a blast there!
30-person Hot Tub
Reserved for our guests 18 years and older.  I used this and it was wonderful!   Nice way to warm up@

Ambush Alley and Raging Bull- 48" Height Requirement
Tube slides poke out the side of the building and back in, dipping and looping then landing in a splash of water.  With the slides shooting out of the building, I failed to get a pictures, but it was fun!

Black Out Pass- 48" Height Requirement
It will have your head spinning! Enter this slide at the top of the tower, pop outside for a quick turn then enter into the funnel - spinning 'round and 'round until you are shot out into the lazy river.  My daughter and spouse did this one!    My daughter calls it the toilet bowl!  My husband did it many times, but when he and daughter did it they got stuck on the double tube and it flipped them upside down thru the hole.  Daughter was a little freaked out, but then talked about how fun it was.  The life guard said that is happens only in 1 of 100 people or so.

Shoot Out Racer- 42" Height Requirement
Race your friends to victory! Grab your mat, lay down on your stomach, and away you go, face first. Your ride will take you outside the building for a second and back in, gaining speed for your race downhill.   My daughter loved this slide.   My son was not tall enough and bummed, so we routed on daddy and sis!

The rooms at the hotel were nice, only issue we had were noisy guests on the floor above us!   The kids shared a bed and they loved it.  The couch in our room also was a sleeper sofa!  We had a sitting area with a TV and there was a TV on the bedroom side.  Normally I would of plugged into the internet (which was free), but it was so relaxing while the kids slept that I curled up with a book on the couch each night!

One aspect we loved was story time!  Both nights that we stayed in the lobby they did milk, cookie and story time at 9pm.  First night it was only us and another family.  By night two, word had got out and it was packed.  The blonde girl reading the story on night one was so sweet!  We got the kids into their PJs each night before heading down!

Other aspects of Fort Rapids.  We ate breakfast at Branding Iron Grille and it was great.  One day we did not want to leave at all, so we had pizza at  DB's Sidewinder cafe in the water park area.  Prices were reasonable.  They were comparable to going out, but what was great was not having to leave!!!

Some of the cool decor!    There was an area of kids to "pan" for gold!!!

Window looking into Arcade

I signed up for the kid's club and I highly suggest everyone doing so!  My kids each got their own card which offered discounts at various places in the hotel and they each got a coupon for 20 free tokens in the arcade.   The loved it  There was a gentleman working named "Mo" who made the kid's night by helping them to score their own Minions out of the claw machine.  In the hallway was a photo strip machine, which my son begged us to do and he proudly has the pic in his room.  Also in the hallway was one of those old chicken laying machines and the egg pops out with a surprise in side.  My daughter was fascinated with it and yes, we of course had to do it 4x!

We had a blast at Fort Rapids, would we recommend it?  YES!!!!   Will we be going back?  YES!!!   With the weather turning gross and cold, this is the perfect place to go!  Whether you just get a day pass to the water park or make it a mini vacation by staying there, it is well worth the money.   We have talked and this will be out go to fall/winter vacation with the kids.

Your kids will love it, you will love it... it is a win, win situation!  Just be prepared to be pooped out!   We were beat after a couple days of play!  Just look at my kids below!  Their faces say it all!
