Thanks goes to Super Coupon Lady for this great post on Saving for Christmas!
Christmas is only 59 Days Away! If you haven’t already, now’s the time to start saving and planning for Christmas. We can have a wonderful Christmas without going into debt.
1) Make a List: The first thing we need to do is make a List of Everyone we need to get presents for this year. You can even print Christmas Planner Pages to help with organizing.
2) Use Store Rewards: Start getting your ECBs, Register Rewards and +Up Rewards and using them to purchase Christmas decor, gifts and saving for Black Friday (those rewards that don’t expire before hand)! You will be surprised what great deals CVS, Walgreens and Rite Aid offer for Christmas.
3) Swagbucks: If you’ve not already joined SwagBucks, I would recommend you do so now! You earn points for searching the internet (and more) and you can redeem these points for Amazon Gift Cards, Restaurant Gift Cards + More! If you already a member of SwagBucks start requesting your gift cards. You can only request (5) per month (2 per day). I personally choose the Amazon Gift Cards! Last year they offered the same items for sale on Black Friday as Walmart!
4) Stock up on Freebies/Super sale items: You can use items you can get for Free or on Super Sale, to make great gift baskets for those on your list! Check the Shop for FREE List Each week!
5) Start Earning Extra Money: Start earning some extra money for Christmas now. Although you likely won’t earn enough money for those big-ticket Christmas purchases, you may earn enough money to buy small gifts, stocking stuffers and decor. Here are some at-home survey sites I would recommend: Valued Opinion Surveys, Inbox Dollars, Toluna, Global Test Market Panel . If you are going to use surveys to earn extra money, I would suggest using a separate email just for your surveys.
6) Start Saving Now: Start putting $10 – $20 away each week and by mid December you would have saved enough to get a nice gift! If your kiddos are wanting a big ticket item like The Wii, which costs about $149, you would be able to get this for them!
7) Daily Deal Sites: Daily deal sites offer products, services, activities and gift certificates at a discounted rate. You can find some amazing deals, just make sure to check the expiration dates before purchasing. Here’s a list of sites you can sign up for (they usually send out a daily email of their newest deals): Groupon, Living Social, Totsy , Zulily , NoMoreRack, Rue La La, Plum District, Haute Look and yes there are more! These are just some of my favorites!
