Rio tells the story of Blu (Jesse Eisenberg), a Spix Macaw who is captured from his native homelands of Brazil at a young age to be domesticated thousand of miles away with his human owner Linda. However, it is nowhere near close to love at first sight between the socially awkward, flight challenged Blu and the strong and independent extreme flying female Jewel (Anne Hathaway). Shortly after Blu's arrival, greedy animal smugglers capture the two rare birds and they soon find themselves helplessly lost in the Brazilian rainforest. Unexpectedly thrown together they embark on a hysterical and endearing adventure where they learn about friendship, love, courage and spreading ones wings to fly.

This movie is so enjoyable!  The opening scene is full of  colorful birds sing and fly in the Brazilian jungles in coordinated movements.  It draws one in immediately!   Made me want to instantly take a trip to Brazil!   This is a G-rated film that the whole family can appreciate and enjoy.  My children were fortunate enough to see the movie at the theater courtesy of Grandpa and Grandma, but it was the first time for my husband and I to see the flick!  I think we enjoyed it as much as the children did!  If you are looking for a quality family movie, I highly suggest you checking out RIO!!!
