SocialMoms and Universal Pictures have teamed up to
introduce a fun, new blogging program that asked us bloggers to share what is our favorite thing about Easter! Well growing up of course it was all about
the basket of goodies! I remember one
Easter my grandmother who lived with us made me or shall I say crocheted me the
prettiest little apron ever. I wore it
in an Easter pageant as one of the Easter bunnies going hop, hop, hop. I still think about that apron and wish I had
it for my little girl.
Now that I am a mom, we do all the normal Easter Bunny
traditions, color eggs, basket, etc. Not
only do we color eggs and get baskets at our house, we normally take a trip to
visit family and do it all over again.
This time with all the cousins, then all the cousins and parents have an
egg hunt. In the coveted eggs is money,
coins of every value. Once all the eggs
have been found we all count our loot and see who got the most! I help our youngest, so of course he moves
slower and gets the least amount of eggs, but it doesn’t matter to him! We also all get around the table and the kids
are in oversized t-shirts coloring eggs.
My in-laws go crazy and each kid gets a dozen! Seems like every year someone forgets to buy
enough vinegar, so we get some pale and funky looking colors, but hey its tradition! Lastly in the bunny tradition we all must
search for our hidden baskets. We don’t
put candy in our baskets, but the in-laws sure do! The kids love the eggs full of M&Ms,
hubby loves his Cadbury eggs, and I hope to score a Dove truffle egg every
year! Usually I have to go out after
Easter and hit the clearance to score my favorite Dove eggs!
Not only do we celebrate the Easter Bunny and his traditions,
but we also celebrate the true meaning of Easter. My father in law is a minister and every
Easter Sunday we don our Easter best and head to church. My children are at the age they are starting
to understand the meaning of Easter and the sacrifice that was made for
us. I love the inquisitive questions my
daughter asks every Sunday after church and they heighten with the Easter
Story!
So with Easter right around the corner, do you have any
special traditions? Favorite
candy? Feel free to post in the
comments! Always looking to try new
ideas, recipes and crafts!
About Hop:
Blending state of the art animation with live action, Hop is a comedy about E.B. (voiced by Russell Brand), the teenage son of the Easter Bunny. On the eve of taking over the family business, E.B. leaves for Hollywood in pursuit of his dream of becoming a drummer. Once there, he encounters Fred (James Marsden of the X-Men series, Enchanted), recently fired and determined to pull his life together. Feigning injury, E.B. persuades Fred to take him in, and Fred finds himself living with the world’s worst houseguest. Back on Easter Island, the Easter Bunny’s second in command, an oversized chick named Carlos, seizes E.B.’s disappearance as an opportunity to plot a coup. Ultimately, Fred and E.B. are Easter’s only hope and they find themselves returning to Easter Island, locked in an epic battle to save the beloved holiday. The film is helmed by Tim Hill, director of the blockbuster Alvin and the Chipmunks and produced by Chris Meledandri’s Illumination Entertainment (Despicable Me).
